This course requires evidence of previous experience or study before you can enrol. You'll need to provide evidence of successful completion of the Year 12 Higher School Certificate (or equivalent), the Certificate IV in Building and Construction (Building), or 11 core units from that qualification. You'll also need a valid general construction induction card (white card) and to complete a Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) skills test.
The Diploma of Building and Construction (Building) covers a range of core units focused on applying building codes and standards, managing construction work, preparing building sketches and drawings, performing site surveys, estimating and monitoring costs, scheduling labour and materials, and managing project quality, risks, contracts and contractor performance. Specialty units cover additional areas like air monitoring and clearance inspections for asbestos removal, energy efficiency, sustainability, and managing project stakeholder engagement.
