Ageing Australia
2 hours
This two-hour interactive workshop teaches aged care leaders how to make effective decisions and delegate confidently. Ideal for emerging and mid-level leaders seeking practical tools to enhance their leadership capability and drive better outcomes for their teams and organisations.
This program is designed for current and aspiring leaders at Level 2 (mid-level/middle management) and Level 3 (front-line/first-line managers) of the Australian Aged Care Leadership Capability Framework. Participants should hold or aspire to leadership positions such as care coordinators, service coordinators, registered nurses, team managers, directors of nursing, care managers, facility managers, or quality managers. Level 1 leaders may also find this module valuable as a refresher. Participants must access training on individual devices and have basic familiarity with aged care sector operations.
The module covers practical decision-making and delegation strategies including: defining and separating simple versus complex decisions; making timely decisions and measuring outcomes; adjusting and refining decisions as an iterative process; facilitating collaborative decisions and fostering outcomes ownership; delegating decision-making to boost accountability and performance; using the ACCORD decision model to ensure alignment with mission and purpose; growing the decision-making capacity of other aspiring leaders; and navigating change with effective and collaborative decision design.
Ageing Australia is Australia's peak body for aged care providers and brings deep sector expertise through its Leadership Accelerator Program, which is specifically mapped against the Australian Aged Care Leadership Capability Framework. The program is delivered by experienced facilitators like Bruce Williams, who has over four decades of experience in adult education, coaching, and professional development. Ageing Australia's commitment to workforce development and leadership capability building ensures participants receive training grounded in industry best practices and current aged care sector needs.
Upon completion of this module, participants will be equipped to make more effective decisions under uncertainty and complexity, delegate with greater confidence, and foster accountability within their teams. These skills are essential for progression into senior leadership roles within aged care organisations, including positions such as director of nursing, facility manager, care manager, or executive leadership. The practical tools and frameworks learned will enhance participants' ability to lead through change, build high-performing teams, and contribute to better outcomes for care recipients and organisational strategic objectives.
