Ageing Australia
2 hours
A practical two-hour leadership workshop for aged care managers and directors focused on strategic planning and effective execution. Learn to align your vision with actionable goals, manage competing priorities, and maximize your time and energy for sustainable achievement.
This program is designed for Level 2 and Level 3 leaders in the Australian Aged Care Leadership Capability Framework. Level 3 leaders are typically front-line or first-line managers (care coordinators, service coordinators, registered nurses, team managers). Level 2 leaders are mid-level managers responsible for multiple teams or entire services (directors of nursing, care managers, facility managers, quality managers). Level 1 leaders may also find this a valuable refresher. Participants should have access to an individual device to participate in the online workshop.
Module 6 covers strategic doing principles and practical leadership skills including: aligning vision and values with valid actions; creating agile and accountable strategic doing cycles; prioritization techniques to banish overwhelm; calendar management and time leverage strategies; understanding and utilizing KPIs and OKRs effectively; building sustainable achievement habits and rituals; breaking analysis paralysis and fostering a positive mindset; and maximizing return on investment for time and energy. The workshop emphasizes the human factors that contribute to project and team success while addressing the complex compliance and competing priorities in contemporary aged care.
Ageing Australia is Australia's peak body for aged care providers and has developed this program specifically aligned with the Australian Aged Care Leadership Capability Framework. The organization brings deep sector expertise and understanding of aged care challenges. The program is facilitated by Bruce Williams, an accomplished speaker with over four decades of experience in adult education, coaching, and professional development, with a focus on leadership, communication, and team dynamics.
Upon completion, leaders will be equipped to manage their teams more effectively with reduced stress and increased productivity. Participants will develop strategic planning capabilities applicable to residential aged care, home and community care, and retirement living settings. The skills learned—including goal setting, priority management, time optimization, and sustainable habit building—prepare leaders for advancement to higher leadership levels and enable them to drive organizational success while managing clinical, residential, and commercial imperatives.
