This honours program is designed for International Business graduates seeking to develop advanced research skills and conduct original research in their field. It combines research methodology training with a substantial thesis project, preparing graduates for careers in research, consulting, academia, or senior management roles.
Applicants must hold an AQF Level 7 Bachelor Degree (or international equivalent) completed within the last two years with a minimum weighted average mark of 75 per cent calculated from 36 units of International Business major coursework, excluding introductory undergraduate courses. Applicants must demonstrate English language proficiency and meet all ANU admission requirements. Competitive selection applies based on available places and supervisory capacity. Applicants must nominate a proposed supervisor and general research area.
The program requires completion of 48 units consisting of: three compulsory research methodology courses providing foundational training in research design and methods specific to international business; one supervised applied topic course allowing practical application of research skills; and a substantial research thesis completed over the entire year with major emphasis following coursework completion. Students engage with the Research School of Management Seminar Series throughout the year and present their proposed thesis research in the first semester.
