Entry requirements vary based on your background. For the 1.7-year program: a bachelor degree with credit average in a related field (built environment, engineering, business, or law), OR a bachelor degree in any field with credit average plus two years construction industry experience at managerial level, OR a Graduate Certificate in Construction from an Australian institution with credit average. For the accelerated 1-year program: an undergraduate honours degree with credit average in a related field, OR honours degree in unrelated field plus two years managerial construction experience, OR a master's degree with credit average in a related field. English language proficiency is required; Australian Year 12 qualifications satisfy this requirement, otherwise IELTS or equivalent test scores are needed.
The program covers advanced disciplinary core courses in construction project management, planning, informatics and risk management (42 UOC). You'll study general management and project management principles and techniques, learning modern management approaches to lead construction projects. Prescribed elective courses (12 UOC for full program, 6 UOC for accelerated) allow specialization in areas of interest. A research preparation course (6 UOC) equips you with research skills, culminating in a major research project (12 UOC) where you independently undertake specialised work relating to professional practice in project management. The program utilizes cutting-edge technology including virtual reality and advanced technology-equipped spaces to prepare you for real-world construction sites.
