Applicants must meet at least one of the following entry requirements: minimum three years' full-time professional work experience in any field, or a bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification. Note: Applicants who completed a Bachelor of Information Technology or Bachelor of Computer Science within the last 3 years from the course commencement date are not eligible. Some knowledge of databases and basic programming knowledge would be beneficial. This course is available to Australian or New Zealand citizens, Australian permanent residents, holders of Australian permanent humanitarian visas and Pacific Engagement visa holders only.
The course comprises 4 core topics: Database Modelling and Information Management covering data structure and management principles; Engineering Programming providing foundational coding skills; Data Engineering focusing on data pipeline development and processing; and Data Science exploring statistical analysis and machine learning techniques. Students gain practical experience with industry-standard tools including MySQL, NoSQL, Datagrip, Power BI, Amazon Web Services, and IntelliJ software.
