An advanced one-year honours program for IT graduates seeking to develop specialized research expertise and leadership in information technology, computer science, and software engineering with industry-relevant specializations.
Applicants must hold a bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in information technology or computer science. If your qualification is from another institution, you must have successfully completed: algorithms and data structures, programming (C, C++, Java, or software engineering/OOP), discrete mathematics, web/mobile programming or web design, information systems or database systems, and human-computer interaction. A minimum GPA of 5.0 on a 7-point scale is required. Qualifications awarded more than 5 years prior to admission will not be considered. English language proficiency is required (IELTS 6.5 overall minimum).
The program covers advanced coursework in computer science, software engineering, design and information systems. Sample courses include Computer Science Research Project, Advanced Topics in Security, Advanced Human-Computer Interaction, and Advanced Embedded Systems. Students collaborate with leading researchers in specialist areas including complex and intelligent systems, security and surveillance, and interaction design. Learning experiences include lectures, tutorials, workplace placements, research experience, laboratory work, and workshops. The program culminates in a challenging research project addressing a specific research question.
