Entry requirements vary by qualification level. Entry Level 1 requires an Australian bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline (or equivalent) with at least a credit (60%) average, including degrees with mathematics, business analytics, scientific or critical thinking, or problem-solving components. Entry Level 2 requires a Monash University Graduate Certificate of Computer Science with at least a credit average. Entry Level 3 requires a Monash University Graduate Diploma of Computer Science with at least a credit average. All applicants must meet English language requirements and minimum university entrance requirements. No prior coding experience is required if entering through the foundation pathway.
The course is structured in three parts: Part A covers Foundations of Computer Science, including programming (Java or Python), databases, architecture, networks, and mathematical foundations. Part B includes Core Master's Studies (Fundamentals of AI, Software Engineering, Cryptography) and Artificial Intelligence Specialisation units (Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing, Intelligent Image and Video Analysis, Discrete Optimisation). Part C comprises Applied Practice units where students work on industry-led capstone challenges. The 2026 curriculum includes heavy focus on Transformer architectures, fine-tuning Large Language Models (LLMs), and ethics of synthetic media generation.
