Gain practical ICT skills in networking, systems administration, and programming to launch your career as a Computer Technician or Systems Administrator. This 1.5-year part-time Certificate IV is government-accredited with national recognition and prepares you for immediate employment in the technology sector.
Applicants must complete a Basic Key Skills Builder (BKSB) online test to ensure required literacy and numeracy levels are met. A Pre-training Review interview is required to ensure the course suits your needs and that you are likely to complete successfully. Completion of a Certificate III in Information Technology or prior experience in IT is preferred. If you do not have a Certificate III or prior experience, an interview with the Course Coordinator will clarify your suitability. You should have access to a PC laptop/computer with Windows 10, 8GB RAM minimum (16GB recommended), 256GB HDD minimum, and reliable internet connection.
The course comprises 20 units: 7 core and 13 elective. Core units include Apply Advanced Critical Thinking to Work Processes, Contribute to Cyber Security Risk Management, Identify and Evaluate Emerging Technologies and Practices, Work Collaboratively in the ICT Industry, Comply with IP Ethics and Privacy Policies in ICT Environments, Apply Introductory Programming Techniques, and Identify and Resolve Client ICT Problems. Elective units cover Configure Cloud Services, Address Cyber Security Requirements, Connect and Configure Devices and Hardware Components, Install and Configure Virtual Machines, Install Configure and Test Network Security, Install and Manage Servers, Manage Network and Data Integrity, Install and Operate Small Enterprise Branch Networks, Create Scripts for Networking, Install Hardware to Networks, Maintain and Repair ICT Equipment and Software, Provide First-Level Remote Help Desk Support, and Install Configure and Test Internet Protocol Networking.
