It is highly recommended that you have successfully completed Year 10 or equivalent. If you are under 17 years of age, special enrolment conditions may apply. Students should have access to a reliable internet connection and a computer with up-to-date software including Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat Reader. Equipment and software are available for use at all TAFE Queensland locations.
The course comprises 4 core units and 1 elective unit. Core units include: Cut hair using freehand clipper techniques (SHBHCUT009), Design haircut structures (SHBHCUT001), Shave heads and faces (SHBHCUT012), and Provide men's general grooming services (SHBHCUT013). The elective unit option is Create haircuts using tracks and carving (SHBHCUT010). All units focus on practical barbering techniques used in modern salons, with emphasis on client consultation, hair analysis, and professional grooming services.
