In a nutshell

Launch your career in aged care with this practical Certificate III qualification. Designed for those seeking entry-level positions, you'll develop essential skills in providing person-centred support to older people in home, community, and health care settings.

What you'll need to get in

You must be aged 16 years or older by the course commencement date and have successfully completed Year 10 or equivalent, or be of mature age. Basic English skills (written and verbal communication) are required. A Skills Check in English, Maths, and Digital Technology is recommended at benchmark level 3. You should have a genuine interest in supporting older people and providing quality aged care services.

Subject breakdown

Core units cover providing individualised support, facilitating empowerment of people receiving support, supporting independence and wellbeing, recognising healthy body systems, communicating in health and community services, working with diverse people, working legally and ethically, and applying infection prevention and control principles. Elective units include recognising and reporting risk of falls, providing support to people living with dementia, working effectively in aged care, addressing chronic disease needs, identifying and reporting abuse, delivering palliative care, and providing first aid. You will complete 120 hours of vocational placement in approved aged care settings.
