Develop essential literacy, numeracy and communication skills to succeed in further education or employment. This foundational course provides personalized support to help you build confidence and achieve Australian Core Skills Framework Level 2.
No formal prerequisites required. This course is designed for people who need to develop or strengthen their foundation skills in literacy and numeracy. It is particularly suitable for young people, mature-age job seekers, people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, people with disability, and women re-entering the workforce. You will need access to a computer and internet for online learning materials through the TAFE Queensland Connect learning management system.
Core units cover: developing and implementing learning plans, interpreting and writing simple English text, oral communication, performing mathematical calculations, interpreting and displaying mathematical data, working with fractions/decimals/percentages, measuring and comparing objects, geometric knowledge, and identifying times and dates. Elective units include digital technology for workplace tasks, business resources, operating digital devices, work-related learning strategies, spatial information, workplace communication, reading workplace information, writing workplace texts, and advanced literacy and numeracy skills. The course integrates practical workplace and learning environment applications throughout.
